The Bently Proximitor Sensor is an eddy-current approach displacement sensor manufactured by Bently Nevada. This sensor can be used to directly observe the axis or target displacement of various vibrations, displacements, rotational speeds and times (such as phase). The working principle is that when the coil at the top of the probe is combined with a high frequency current and is close to a conductive surface, due to the action of the coil magnetic field line, the surface of the conductive object generates eddy currents, thus reducing the inductance of the coil. This change in coil characteristics is converted into a DC voltage signal output.
