The GE 336A4940LBP46 is an Ethernet switch used in the Mark VIe safety control system designed by General Electric (GE). This switch is designed to meet the needs of real-time industrial control solutions.
The switch is unmanaged, meaning it does not require a separate device to configure or manage its operation 1. It can operate at temperatures ranging from -40 to 70 °C (-40 to 158 °F) and can be powered by redundant 18 to 36 V DC power sources.
The switch supports store and forward architecture, providing high data confidence. It also provides soft start capability that limits inrush current to less than 200% of the normal operating current.
The switch can be mounted on a DIN rail for installation. There are seven screw holes used on the existing switch to support panel mounting.
The switch uses SFPs with LC Connectors to connect to single-mode fiber-optic cable for new installations 1. GE recommends replacing MMF with SMF. If not, the network is downgraded to only run at 100 MB speed.
