GE IS200AVSCG1A PLC/DCS Module
PLC (Programmable controller) is a control device, while DCS (distributed control system) is a system. DCS is a “decentralized control system”, while PLC is a “programmable controller”, the two are the difference between “system” and “device”. In terms of design and structure, DCS has a large number of expandable interfaces throughout the design, and it is convenient to access external systems or extended systems. After the design of PLC is completed, it is difficult to increase or reduce the operating station arbitrarily.
In terms of security, DCS uses double redundant control units, when an important control unit fails, there will be relevant redundant units in real time without interference to switch to the working unit, to ensure the safety and reliability of the entire system. In the design of PLC, there is no redundant concept, and there is no redundant control strategy. In terms of communication, DCS network is the central nervous system of the whole system, it is a safe and reliable dual-redundancy high-speed communication network, the system has good expansibility and openness. The PLC because basically all work for individuals, its communication with other PLC or host computer, the network form is basically a single network structure, the network protocol is often inconsistent with international standards. In terms of network security, PLC does not have good protection measures.
